Meet Michelle and Megrette

Watch for their new book, Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat with Diabetes: A Mindful Eating Program for Thriving with Prediabetes or Diabetes on April 1st, 2012 by New Harbinger Publishing. This book is based on the Mindful Eating Cycle and the Am I Hungry? Mindful Eating Workshops. 
 
Megrette and Michelle also share their approach and techniques with other health professionals through articles and presentations about mindful eating and diabetes self-management at conferences such as the American Dietetic Association’s Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE) and the American Association of Diabetes Educators.

Michelle May, M.D.

Michelle May 0406 Headshot 4x6Michelle May, M.D. is a recovered yoyo dieter and the founder of the Am I Hungry?® Mindful Eating Workshops and Facilitator Training Program. 
 
She is the award-winning author of Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat: How to Break the Eat-Repent-Repeat Cycle, winner of seven publishing awards (watch this one-minute book trailer). 
 
She has been featured on Dr. Oz, the Discovery Health Channel, and Oprah Radio, and quoted in Body+Soul, Diabetic Living, Fitness, Parents, Self, USA Weekend, US News & World Report, Vim & Vigor, WebMD and many others. Her personal success story was published in Chicken Soup for the Dieter’s Soul. 
 
Michelle shares her compelling message and constructive keynotes with audiences around the country, conducts corporate weight management workshops, and has trained and licensed over 300 health professionals to facilitate Am I Hungry?® Workshops worldwide. 
 
Michelle cherishes her relationships with her husband Owen and children, Tyler and Elyse. She regularly enjoys hiking near her home in Phoenix, Arizona, and is a certified yoga instructor. She and Owen, a professional chef, share a passion for gourmet and healthful cooking, wine tasting, and traveling.

Megrette Fletcher, M.Ed., R.D., C.D.E.

Megrette Fletcher is a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator, author, and co-founder of The Center for Mindful Eating.
 
Megrette is the executive director of TCME, a non-profit, non-religious organization to assist health professionals to explore the concepts of mindful eating. She is the co-author of Discover Mindful Eating for health professionals with Fredrick Burgraff. 
 
She has written articles for and has been quoted about mindful eating in Diabetes Self Management, Today’s Dietitian, Today’s Social Worker, Bariatric Times, Glamour, Family Circle, The Wall Street Journal, US News and World Report, Women’s Day, and Oxygen Magazine.
 
Megrette currently works as a diabetes educator in Dover, New Hampshire. She is endlessly entertained by her two daughters, two kittens, and a dog. She is an active cyclist and is enthusiastic about motorcycles, kayaking, quilting, and scrap booking. She is a member of Aryaloka Buddhist Center in Newmarket, NH, and has maintained a consistent meditation practice since 1999.
